At the 2026 NHL trade deadline, the Philadelphia Flyers made a big move by trading forward Bobby Brink to the Minnesota Wild for defenseman David Jiricek. This simple trade meets both teams’ most important needs in the middle of the deadline rush.
Bobby Brink, a 24-year-old right winger from Minnesota, has scored 13 goals and assisted on 13 others in 55 games this season with the Flyers. He averages 15:29 of ice time per game. The Flyers get David Jiricek, who is 22 years old and was the sixth overall pick by Columbus in 2022. The Wild traded for him in November 2024. There were no extra picks or extensions in this one-for-one deal.
The Flyers have too many wingers, so they add Jiricek to their blue line as a potential top-four defender, even though he hasn’t played much in the NHL because of logjams in Columbus and Minnesota. The Wild, on the other hand, get more scoring power from Brink to help them make the playoffs. For weeks, there had been rumors that Brink would be traded, with the Wild being the most likely team to get him.
Brink helped his high school win a state title and will help the offense right away. Jiricek has played in the NHL and scored 11 points in 53 games. He also did well in the AHL playoffs. Fans are excited to see how these young players do in their new jerseys.
