Rao recalls, “When Salona sent me the script, I read it in a few days and immediately said, ‘I had to be a part of this—no second thoughts.’ Everything else—logistics, negotiations—could be figured out later.”

A key factor in Rao’s decision was his admiration for director Sonam Nair. After watching Masaba Masaba, Rao reached out to Nair to express his interest in working with her. “I always connect with talented directors, even if I haven’t worked with them before. I want them to know I appreciate their craft,” said Rao.
