Aditya Syal, known for his role as Vyom in Ishq Jabariya on Sun Neo, opens up about his journey into acting. From mimicking Bollywood legends to finding his true calling, Aditya’s story is inspiring.
A Family Rooted in the Arts
Aditya grew up in a creative household. His father was active in theatre in Nainital, working with legends like Nirmal Pandey and NSD actors such as Idris Malik.
“I was surrounded by art from the start. I’d mimic actors like Amitabh Bachchan and Farhan Akhtar, even my teachers and friends. What began as fun soon turned into a serious passion for acting,” Aditya shared.
The Moment That Changed Everything
During a childhood trip to Mumbai, Aditya had a chance encounter that set his career in motion.
“I was in fifth grade when I appeared on Boogie Woogie. My father’s friend, a writer for the show, suggested I say a fun punchline about Nag Panchami with Javed Jaffrey and Naved. I nailed it in one take. That spark was unforgettable,” he recalled.
Back at school, classmates recognized him. “They said, ‘Hey, we saw you on Boogie Woogie!’ That’s when I realized how powerful even a small TV role could be.”
A Legacy of Creativity
Aditya’s creative streak runs in his family. His mother was into English theatre, performing in plays by Anton Chekhov and Shakespeare. She also had a passion for modeling.
“The support from my family shaped my journey. Art and creativity have always been in my blood,” he added.
