Jacobi Jupe Joins Scarlett Johansson in Mike Flanagan’s New Exorcist

Jacobi Jupe, a rising star, has joined Scarlett Johansson in Blumhouse and Universal’s new “Exorcist” movie. Mike Flanagan, a well-known horror writer and director, wrote and directed the movie. The project is said to be a “fresh, bold” take on the “The Exorcist” universe, but it is not a remake or a direct sequel to any of the previous movies.

The untitled movie will tell a brand-new story about demonic possession after the franchise’s failed attempt to bring it back in 2023’s “The Exorcist: Believer.” Jupe is supposed to play Johansson’s character’s son, which puts the “Hamnet” breakout at the heart of the supernatural thriller.

Flanagan, who is known for making the hit series “The Haunting of Hill House” and “Midnight Mass” as well as the highly praised Stephen King adaptations “Doctor Sleep” and “Gerald’s Game,” will also produce the movie through his Red Room Pictures company. Morgan Creek Entertainment and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, two big names in horror, are making the movie. Jason Blum and Ryan Turek are two of the main producers.

The new “Exorcist” chapter will start filming in March in New York City, but no one knows what the story is about. William Friedkin directed the original 1973 classic, which was based on William Peter Blatty’s novel. It got 10 Oscar nominations and is still one of the most important horror movies of all time.
