Jalen Hurts Double Turnover Dooms Eagles in Chargers OT Win

The Philadelphia Eagles lost to the Los Angeles Chargers 22-19 on Monday Night Football. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw four interceptions, the last one ending the game in overtime. There were a lot of baffling turnovers in the game, including two by Hurts on one wild play in the second quarter.

In a rare NFL moment, Hurts threw an interception to Da’Shawn Hand, a defensive lineman for the Chargers. Hand fumbled, and Hurts picked it up but then fumbled again, giving the ball back to Los Angeles. This was the first time since 1978 that there had been a double turnover. The Chargers quickly turned it into points, changing the game’s momentum. There were six turnovers in the first half alone, which showed how sloppy both teams were.

Even though their defense was strong and sacked Justin Herbert seven times, Philadelphia’s three-game losing streak continued. Hurts had a terrible 35.2 passer rating after three quarters and no touchdowns until late in the game. A.J. Brown dropped a sure touchdown, and another pass from Hurts bounced off Brown’s hands for an interception. This let Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker tie the game with field goals and then win it. In a game with eight turnovers and nine kicks, the Eagles kept settling for field goals.

Los Angeles won 9-4 thanks to rookie Kimani Hampton’s early touchdown and Herbert’s ability to bounce back after hand surgery. Tony Jefferson’s interception in overtime sealed the win deep in Chargers territory, ending Philadelphia’s hopes of winning the NFC East against a Chargers team that was on the rise.
