Jenny Slate Slams Baldoni in It Ends With Us Texts

Text messages from Jenny Slate’s deposition that have just been made public show how harshly she criticized Justin Baldoni while they were filming It Ends With Us. The actress said that being on set was “really gross and disturbing,” and she called Baldoni the “biggest clown” and “most intense narcissist” she had ever met. Slate also stayed away from Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath by not doing any promotional work with them.

Slate called Baldoni a “false ally” pretending to be a “male feminist” in messages to her agent and team from June 2023. She made fun of his 2018 TED Talk about empowering women. She said that both she and Blake Lively went straight to the studio to complain about how “crappy” Baldoni and Heath made the set. Other texts made her anger clear by saying that Baldoni was “astoundingly misguided” and that the shoot involved “crazy stuff.”

Blake Lively is suing Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios for sexual harassment and retaliation. The trial is set for May 18. In June 2025, Baldoni’s countersuit was thrown out because the fight over things like intimate scenes on set was getting worse. Slate has publicly backed Lively, saying in the past that the attacks on her were “terribly dark and disturbing.”

Slate told her team that she didn’t want to work with Baldoni and called Heath “truly unprofessional.” Sony executives said that Slate told them that Baldoni said she looked “hot” in costume, but she didn’t take it to HR. Based on Colleen Hoover’s book, the It Ends With Us production scandal gets worse with these new facts.
