India’s First Animal-Lover Vigilante Comic Book Set to Debut in Mumbai
Mumbai, 26th May 2025 – Bollywood star and animal rights advocate John Abraham will launch Lakadbaggha: The Prologue, a pathbreaking graphic novel based on the cult Indian action film Lakadbaggha. The launch, taking place in Mumbai, will see the presence of the book’s creators and cast members, including actress Ridhi Dogra.
A Hero for the Voiceless
Written by actor-filmmaker Anshuman Jha and illustrated by American comic artist Brittain Peck, the graphic novel tells the origin story of Arjun Bakshi — a vigilante who protects animals and the environment.
This is India’s first comic book to feature an animal-rights superhero.
From Film to Graphic Novel
The comic adapts the film Lakadbaggha, creating a new universe where social justice meets high-octane action. The project aims to inspire a younger generation to care for animals and the planet.
Anshuman Jha’s Dream Project
Jha shared,
“As a kid, I loved Chacha Choudhary and Tintin. But I also loved animals. This is the hero I always dreamed of — one who fights for the voiceless, both on screen and in print.”
He added that illustrator Brittain Peck brought his vision to life with passion and power.
A Global Collaboration
Peck said,
“I wish I had a hero like Arjun Bakshi when I was growing up. It’s an honor to help bring him to the comic world.”
The collaboration blends Indian storytelling with global comic artistry.
