Kamya voiced her frustration with the way events like National Girl Child Day are celebrated. She said, “Celebrating these days feels like a joke. It’s a waste of time unless we take real action. Once our mindset changes, we won’t need a special day to honor girls and women. Every day will be a celebration.”

Despite progress in many areas, Kamya believes the mindset of society hasn’t changed much. “We keep saying the country is progressing, but in reality, it’s stuck in the past. We still have a long way to go in changing how we view girls and women,” she explained.

As a mother, Kamya shared her personal worries about her daughter’s safety. “Even today, when my daughter steps out, I feel anxious. She’s only 15, but I’m already worried about her future. The trust is just not there. Cases like Nirbhaya still happen, and it makes me so angry.”

Kamya passionately stated, “When we talk about girls’ safety, it makes my blood boil. We celebrate progress, but the basic fears and mistrust haven’t gone away. Until that changes, what’s the point of celebrating?”
