Kanchi Singh, who rose to fame with her roles in popular TV shows like Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and Aur Pyar Ho Gaya, is all set to make her OTT debut this year. The actress is thrilled about her new project and believes that OTT has opened up more avenues and choices for actors.
In an exclusive interview, Kanchi shared her views on how OTT has emerged as the preferred entertainment medium for the audience. She said, “OTT has given us more opportunities to showcase our talent. We have a variety of genres, formats, and platforms to choose from. OTT is also more flexible and creative than daily soaps, which are repetitive and exhausting. OTT gives us a clear vision and direction of the story and the characters.”
She further added, “OTT has changed the game for the industry, especially during the lockdown. OTT has become a part of our lifestyle and culture. We are hooked on the amazing content that OTT offers, featuring brilliant actors from different backgrounds and fields. Whether it is Bollywood, theatre, or TV, OTT has given them a platform to shine and reach a wider audience.”
Kanchi, who took a break from TV to pursue her Bollywood dreams, also opened up about one of the most controversial topics of nepotism in the entertainment world. She stressed that nepotism is not limited to Bollywood, but also exists in TV and other domains.
She said, “Nepotism and favouritism are everywhere, not just in Bollywood. Even on TV, certain people get preference and repeat over others. Nepotism and favouritism are not fair, but they are not the only factors that determine success. Talent and luck also play a crucial role. I am honest and passionate about my work and my art. I don’t let these things affect me or my goals.”
When asked about her plans, Kanchi revealed that she has some exciting projects lined up for release. She said, “I am in talks for more films, two of which are ready to hit the screens soon. I can’t reveal much about them right now, but I am sure the audience will love them. I am looking forward to exploring more genres and roles on OTT and films.”
