“I’m Not Afraid of Being Typecast. Villain Roles Are More Challenging,” Says the Actress
Not Worried About Labels
Actress Kavita Banerjee, who plays Karn Mohini in Divya Prem: Pyaar Aur Rahasya Ki Kahani on Sun Neo, says she’s unbothered by the idea of being typecast.
“On Indian television, actors are termed fast,” she told us. “Do two villain roles, and you’re branded as a ‘villain actor.'”
Yet Kavita thinks her heroine is far from run-of-the-mill. “Karn Mohini is fearless and strong. Not an ordinary villain. She’s different.”
Playing the Villain Is a Bigger Challenge
Negative roles need to be more demanding, Kavita thinks, just like Kavita Banerjee portrayed.
“Villain characters are more challenging than positive ones. Everyone has to be intense, believable, and complex,” she explained.
“In life, I’m happy. Acting allows me to play the opposite of my personality.”
Open to Positive Roles Too
Kavita is fond of playing the bad guy, but actress Kavita Banerjee remains open to adapting.
“I would love to experiment with positive characters as well. Acting is all about range. I want to play every colour,” she said.
So far, most offers have been for negative roles, but she’s ready to break the mold.
“If someone can imagine me differently, I’m all in.”
