Maya Rudolph’s Broadway Debut in Oh, Mary! 2026

The six-time Emmy-winning comedian from Saturday Night Live, Maya Rudolph, is going to make her long-awaited Broadway debut in the hit play Oh, Mary! From April 28 to June 20, 2026, she will play the famous role of a new Mary Todd Lincoln at the Lyceum Theatre.

Rudolph takes over for John Cameron Mitchell, who leaves on April 26 after a two-week extension. Her short eight-week engagement comes after a number of famous Marys, such as Cole Escola, Jinkx Monsoon, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess, and Betty Gilpin. The play, which was written and starred by Tony Award winner Cole Escola, has been breaking box office records since it opened in 2024 and will run until January 2027.

Oh, Mary! is a dark, absurd comedy that takes place in the weeks before Abraham Lincoln was killed. It shows Mary Todd Lincoln as a repressed, alcoholic woman who wants to be a cabaret star but can’t get away from her boring life. Sam Pinkleton directed it, and it’s an 80-minute one-act show that mixes campy humor, surrealism, and sharp wit.

Rudolph’s Excited Statement: “I’ve wanted to be Cole Escola ever since I was a little girl.” Oh, Mary! is the funniest play I’ve ever seen… “Being on Broadway for the first time as a miserable, suffocated, alcoholic woman is a dream come true,” said Rudolph. She told the New York Times that she is very excited to put her own spin on the role.
