Today at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., the highly anticipated documentary “Melania” premieres. It gives a behind-the-scenes look at the 20 days leading up to Donald Trump’s 47th presidential inauguration in January 2025. The first lady’s new company, Muse Films, made the movie. It comes out in theaters around the world on Friday, January 30, 2026, on about 1,600 screens, including 1,500 in the US.
The Trumps will walk the red carpet at the Kennedy Center premiere after seeing the movie in private at the White House last weekend. In the trailer, Melania says “Here we go again” on Inauguration Day inside the Capitol. It shows private conversations, important meetings, and her return to life as first lady.
Brett Ratner directed the movie, which has a reported $40 million budget from Amazon MGM Studios. It will stream on Prime Video after its theatrical run. This is Ratner’s first major project since allegations of misconduct in 2017, which he denies.
Melania came up with the idea for the project after the 2024 election win. The goal was to make her role as a wife, mother, businesswoman, and White House coordinator less mysterious. “Everyone is curious. In the trailer, she says, “So here it is,” and talks about how the “Take It Down Act” and global foster programs have made a difference in child safety.
Filming began in December 2024, and Melania was heavily involved, along with advisors like Marc Beckman. While the financial details are still secret, it’s never happened before for a sitting first lady. This has led to talks about ethics in the Trumps’ business dealings.
