April 10, 2025 | Guwahati — Actress and social activist Neha Dhupia has teamed up with Assam Police and the PIIR Foundation to champion the international campaign #DontBeASharent, focused on children’s online safety and digital parenting.
What Is #DontBeASharent?
Launched by Assam Police, #DontBeASharent is a global movement urging parents to think before sharing their children’s photos or personal details online. The campaign highlights the risks of “sharenting”—the overexposure of kids on social media.
Introducing Infantia: A National Digital Parenting Dialogue
To take the message further, PIIR Foundation and Assam Police Sishu Mitra have introduced Infantia—India’s first national platform focused on children’s internet rights and digital parenting.
Infantia brings together experts, policymakers, educators, law enforcement, and parents to address the challenges of raising children in the digital age.
Neha Dhupia’s Message to Parents
A vocal advocate for child safety, Neha Dhupia shared her thoughts:
“As a mother, I understand the joy of sharing milestones. But we must ask — how much is too much? ‘#DontBeASharent’ is a reminder to protect our children digitally, not just physically.”
Nationwide Awareness and Global Plans
The campaign will now expand through:
- Short awareness videos
- Public service announcements (PSAs)
- Educational workshops in schools and communities
Assam Police and PIIR Foundation also plan to take the initiative global, driving conversations around ethical online parenting and child privacy.
