Additionally, Dulquer Salmaan’s Lucky Baskhar lingered in the Top 10 in India for 14 weeks. Smashes such as Pushpa 2, Amaran, Leo, and Devara ruled the Global Top 10 Non-English rankings. This evidences the world’s increasing hunger for Tamil and Telugu tales.
In 2026, Netflix is launching six original films and series across thrillers, comedies, dramas, and romances. These are developed by new talent from the region.

Takshakudu, a Telugu folklore thriller by Vinod Anantoju, is about a blind man and his loyal dog. They set out for revenge after a fatal accident disheartens their village.
Comedies and Lighthearted Fun
Super Subbu, a Telugu comedy series directed by Mallik Ram and featuring Sandeep Kishan, is about an unlucky fellow. He is compelled to conduct sex education in a rural village — resulting in mad and funny situations.
Modern Romance with a Twist
#Love, a Tamil show by Balaji Mohan featuring Arjun Das and Aishwarya Lekshmi, delves into chemistry vs compatibility. Two unlikely matches challenge one another, falling in love the unexpected way. Full of laughter and heart, the series encapsulates romance in our digital age.
