On March 21, 2026, a terrible house fire in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, killed NHL reporter Jessi Pierce, 37, and her three young children—Hudson, Cayden, and Avery. The fire, which was reported around 5:26 a.m. on the 2100 block of Richard Avenue, also killed the family’s dog. Neighbors called the police when they saw flames coming through the roof.
When firefighters from the White Bear Lake Fire Department got there, the house was completely on fire. They found four people and a pet inside. The Minnesota State Fire Marshal’s Office is looking into what happened, and the community is grieving the loss.
For more than ten years, Pierce wrote for NHL.com about the Minnesota Wild and co-hosted the Bardown Beauties podcast. The Minnesota Wild called her a “kind and compassionate” person because she was able to balance her job with being a mother. She often brought her kids to practices.
The NHL sent “prayers and deepest condolences” to the Pierce family and said how important she was to the league. Greg Peterson, the fire chief, said he was heartbroken by the tragedy and asked for community support.
