Renowned actor Nikkhil Arya, best known for his iconic roles in popular TV shows like Kesar, Kasturi, Tere Liye, and Kumkum Bhagya, is all set to make a significant mark in the Marathi film industry with his upcoming project, Gulaabi. The film, which centers around three women from different generations, sees Arya playing a pivotal role in their lives, bridging two diverse time periods.
Describing his role, Arya shared, “I get a chance to be a part of at least two of their journeys; hence, I interact with two diametrically opposite generations. The fact that it’s a completely positive role—soft, stern, authoritative, and philosophical at the same time—gives me an opportunity to display a range of emotions.” Known for his versatility, Arya brings his years of experience in Hindi television to this project, showcasing his ability to tackle complex characters.
The film carries a profound message: “Life never stops for anyone, and change is the only constant,” Arya emphasized. Having grown up in Pune, Arya’s fluency in Marathi made it easier for him to connect with the language and culture during the filming process. Reflecting on his roots, Arya noted, “The Marathi culture has been a great influence on me, embracing the arts from a young age and shaping my journey to becoming an actor.”
The movie was primarily shot in Jaipur, often referred to as the Pink City, which added a beautiful, authentic backdrop to the film’s narrative. Arya expressed his excitement about working with the film’s director, Abhyangh Kuvalekar, a longtime friend making his directorial debut. “It was his vision to cast me, and it was a pleasure and an honor to work with experienced co-stars like Mrinal Kulkarni, who constantly shared valuable insights with me,” Arya said.
He also highlighted the professional yet fun atmosphere on set, noting the team’s camaraderie and the warm hospitality they received, especially with authentic Rajasthani dishes like dal-baati, which made the experience even more memorable.
Looking ahead, Nikkhil Arya is eager to explore different genres and continue challenging himself as an actor. “I hope to portray content that is constantly evolving and fulfilling,” he concluded.
