Author Alice Hoffman, who wrote the best-selling book, is working with Grammy winners Norah Jones and Gregg Wattenberg to make the music and lyrics for the show. Peter Duchan, who wrote the book for the musical “Dogfight,” is writing the book with Hoffman, and Maria Friedman, who directed “Merrily We Roll Along,” is set to direct.
The story takes place in a small town in Massachusetts and follows the Owens sisters, Sally and Gillian. They are orphans raised by strange aunts and are cursed to never be able to love a man. The sisters must accept their witchy legacy in order to break free from love, loss, and hidden truths.
