Honoured by CM Pinarayi Vijayan at 54th Kerala State Film Awards
Thiruvananthapuram, April 16 — Actor-director Prithviraj Sukumaran was honoured with the Best Actor Award at the 54th Kerala State Film Awards for his powerful role in Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life. The award was presented by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in a grand ceremony celebrating Malayalam cinema’s finest.
A Role That Transformed a Career
In Aadujeevitham, Prithviraj plays Najeeb, a man trapped in the deserts of the Gulf. His physical and emotional transformation was intense, raw, and deeply moving. Audiences and critics alike praised the performance as one of his finest.
A Moment of Perfect Timing
Though the winners were announced in August 2024, the award was presented in April 2025. The timing couldn’t be more fitting. Prithviraj recently directed and starred in L2: Empuraan, one of Malayalam cinema’s biggest-ever blockbusters. This state honour adds to his growing list of achievements.
Carrying Forward a Legendary Legacy
Prithviraj’s father, Sukumaran, was the first in their family to win this award. In 2006, Prithviraj became the youngest-ever winner at age 24 for Vaasthavam, breaking Mohanlal’s long-held record. Nearly 20 years later, he wins again — bringing the legacy full circle.
More Than Just an Actor
Beyond acting, Prithviraj is a force behind the camera. He’s shaped narratives, elevated Malayalam cinema globally, and brought new dimensions to storytelling. This award isn’t just for a role — it’s for a relentless creative force who keeps pushing the limits.
A Fitting Title for a Pan-India GOAT
From critical acclaim to box-office dominance, Prithviraj continues to break barriers. This honour solidifies his status as a true Pan-India icon — and one of the greatest of all time in Indian cinema.
