A Reluctant Beginning That Changed Everything
Initially, Pulkit never planned to be part of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. At the time, he was unsure about daily soaps and questioned whether television could offer him creative variety as an actor.
“I remember saying I didn’t want to do TV serial-type work. I wanted something more versatile,” he once shared.
Nevertheless, the casting team remained confident. They assured him the role was layered and impactful. More importantly, they promised a meeting with Ekta Kapoor—a promise that would soon change everything.
One Overnight Flight, One Defining Meeting
Trusting his instincts, Pulkit packed his bags and boarded an overnight flight to Mumbai. Ekta Kapoor had seen his photographs and wanted to meet him in person. From that point on, events unfolded rapidly.
He was groomed, given what would become his signature haircut, and asked to perform a screen test. The footage was sent immediately. Shortly after, Pulkit found himself sitting across from Ekta Kapoor.
Her response was instant and decisive:
“Okay, done. Ready.”
In that single moment, the course of his career was sealed.
An Emotional Homecoming Before Fame
Despite the professional breakthrough, Pulkit felt an emotional pull. His parents were still unaware of what had just transpired. In an era before video calls and instant updates, he requested one night to return to Delhi, officially citing a back issue.
What awaited him there became a memory he cherishes to this day.
“Landing in Delhi, I saw my parents waiting at the airport. There were tears, hugs, and barely any words,” he recalled. “Within hours, I was back on a flight to Mumbai.”
Becoming a Household Name Overnight
Pulkit Samrat’s television debut soon turned iconic. Introduced during the show’s generational leap, he entered Indian homes with the song “Wo Krishna Hai”, one of the earliest full-length launch tracks for a television character.
Alongside Mouni Roy, Pulkit became the face of the new generation of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Their entry remains firmly etched in Indian television history.
“Overnight, brother—overnight, I was a household name,” Pulkit said.
From Television Stardom to Cinematic Versatility
Since then, Pulkit Samrat has steadily built a diverse and credible body of work. From the raw intensity of Taish to the cult success of the Fukrey franchise, he has consistently showcased range and adaptability.
