Rajinikanth’s Heartfelt Story: From Real-Life Coolie to Coolie: The Powerhouse.

Hyderabad, India — Get ready! Rajinikanth’s Coolie: The Powerhouse is hitting theaters worldwide on August 14, 2025. But before we see him on screen, Rajinikanth shared something incredibly personal at a recent event in Hyderabad – a story from his younger days that left the whole room in stunned silence.

When His Father Asked Him to Be a Coolie

Rajinikanth opened up about a time when his father asked him to work as a coolie. He had to load three heavy sacks onto a handcart, thinking it was just a short trip of about 500 meters. But, as luck would have it, there was a traffic jam, and the route ended up being almost 1.5 km long!

A Tough Day on the Streets

Imagine this: a young Rajinikanth, pulling a cart loaded with sacks, navigating a busy street filled with buses, trucks, and cars. It was a real struggle just to keep the sacks balanced. He even remembers one of the sacks falling off the cart! People started shouting, and some even questioned what he was doing there. Rajinikanth joked, “I probably looked too skinny for the job.”

The Two-Rupee Tip That Changed Everything

After finally making the delivery, Rajinikanth asked for his pay. The man gave him a ₹2 tip and it turned out to be his college friend Muniswamy — someone he used to tease. “He said, ‘You acted so big, and now look at you.’ Leaning on those sacks, I cried. That was the first time I cried in my life,” Rajinikanth shared.

When Real Life Inspires Reel Life

The superstar says he’s never forgotten that experience. It reminds him of the value of hard work and staying humble. And it seems like that memory has even influenced his new film. In Coolie: The Powerhouse, he plays a tough, determined character – a role that, in some ways, reflects his own life journey.

A Blockbuster in the Making

Coolie: The Powerhouse isn’t just a one-man show. The film also stars Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and produced by Sun Pictures, it’s promising to be a high-energy, action-packed movie with plenty of heart. Word on the street is that the budget is around ₹400 Crore!

Get Ready for August 14

With the release date just around the corner, the excitement for Coolie: The Powerhouse is building. If Rajinikanth can bring the same raw emotion and intensity to the screen that he showed when sharing his personal story, this could be one of his most memorable roles yet.
