‘Bhool Chuk Maaf’ Set for Release
Bhool Chuk Maaf, starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi, is all set to release in cinemas on May 23, 2025. Directed by Karan Sharma, the film is a romantic comedy set in Varanasi. It follows a couple navigating unusual and hilarious circumstances.
Ahead of the release, the lead actors featured in IMDb’s ‘Ask Each Other Anything’ series, where they shared personal insights, behind-the-scenes moments, and mutual admiration.
Rao on Gabbi’s Early Doubts
Rao revealed that Gabbi seemed low on confidence during the initial days of filming.
“You were doing great but seemed unsure,” he told her. “Just trust your gut—you’ve got it.”
Gabbi responded with heartfelt praise.
“Working with you was a dream. You’re kind, empathetic, and open—no advice needed.”
Shooting in Extreme Heat
The cast endured grueling weather while filming on the ghats of Varanasi.
Gabbi shared a surprising lesson:
“I didn’t know sunscreen was needed for hair too—mine got burnt. I told you we’re never shooting in May-June again, but you said, ‘If the script is good, we’ll do it.’”
Rao added:
“It was 50 degrees. The ACs didn’t work. People see the trailer but don’t realize how tough it was.”
Why They Said Yes to the Script
Gabbi said she was hooked from the first narration.
“Every character felt alive. It was a fun, feel-good story. I knew I wanted to be a part of it.”
For Rao, the story’s structure stood out.
“Playing someone who relives the same day over and over was a challenge. Each reaction had to feel fresh.”
Rao on What Makes Comedy Work
Gabbi asked Rao how he brings charm to every comic role.
Rao explained:
“Comedy is tough. You need good writing and perfect timing. I never try to be funny—I just react to the scene.”
He credited inspirations like Robin Williams, Jim Carrey, and Irrfan Khan.
“Irrfan Sir had amazing timing. Even his pauses made you feel something.”
