While festivals are a time to be treasured with loved ones, performers may find it difficult to reconcile their work with festivities. Recently, Sangita Ghosh, who is currently enthralling audiences as Saroj in Sun Neo’s hit drama Saajha Sindoor, took a brief vacation from her hectic shooting schedule to celebrate Navratri in Jaipur with her family.
Sangita disclosed her holiday schedule, saying, “This Navratri, I went to Jaipur to spend time with my daughter and in-laws. I’ve split my festivities between Mumbai and Jaipur. Before Dussehra, I return to Mumbai to continue filming for Saajha Sindoor. I would have stayed longer to truly enjoy the celebrations with my family if it weren’t for my business obligations. But regardless of the situation, once you commit to this field, you can’t go back.”
This year, Sangita’s journey to Jaipur was especially memorable because it marked Devi’s first day of playschool. “My visit to Jaipur was not solely for Navratri. I was determined not to miss my daughter’s school debut. The best part of my vacation, she said, was watching her take this significant step, even though celebrating Navratri with her was a bonus.
“We celebrate Maa Durga’s puja with all the rituals, and my mom performs it in the traditional Bengali way here in Mumbai,” Sangita added, expressing her affinity to the occasion. This festival is very important to us Bengalis, not only because of the puja but also because of the cultural activities. I made some unique puja items and Bengali sweets this year.”
In Saajha Sindoor, Sangita portrays Saroj, Gagan’s (Sahil Uppal) stepmother. Her off-screen persona is pleasant, but her character has a complex grey tone. Sangita revealed that she was first apprehensive about accepting the position: “I had to think about my kid because I would be leaving her in Jaipur to go to Mumbai. I chose to accept the task after giving it careful thought and having faith in the group.”
Sun Neo broadcasts Saajha Sindoor from Monday through Saturday at 8:00 p.m. The poignant tale of Phooli, a young lady dubbed a “unmarried widow” after her fiancé passes away on their wedding day, is depicted in the show. The cast of the show is outstanding and includes Nasirr Khan, Stuti Vinkle, Sahil Uppal, and Krutika Desai.
Make sure to catch Saajha Sindoor and witness Sangita Ghosh‘s striking depiction of Saroj.
