Sadie Sink: Fan Theories Cast Me in Spider-Man 4 First

Sadie Sink, who plays a character in Stranger Things, said that she first heard about her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day from fan theories online, before Marvel even called her. The actress said that she saw rumors on social media that she had been cast in the new Spider-Man movie, and then two days later she got an official offer.

Sink said on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that viral fan chatter basically “cast” her in Spider-Man 4 before the studio did. “I learned about it from theories on the internet. People online were saying things like, “Sadie Sink is going to be in the new Spider-Man,” and I was like, “I am?” “Sure enough, they asked me to do it two days later,” she said, adding that some fan theories are true.

Sink said that it’s even harder to keep Marvel secrets than it is to stay quiet about Stranger Things because of all the buzz around Spider-Man: Brand New Day. She called the experience “torture” and joked that there seems to be “a new character every week” that fans are sure she is playing as theories spread on Reddit, X (Twitter), and TikTok.

Marvel hasn’t said who Sink will play in Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man movie, but there is still a lot of speculation. Many fans think she could play a fan-favorite character like a new version of Mary Jane Watson, Jean Grey, or other Spider-Verse and street-level Marvel characters.

Sink has been a fan of Holland’s web-slinger for a long time. Since Marvel is keeping plot details and character reveals secret until closer to the movie’s release, fans will have to rely on the same online theories that helped “cast” her in the MCU in the first place.
