Big news for Sai Tamhankar! She just snagged the Best Actress award at the Maharashtra State Film Awards (that’s the 60th and 61st edition, to be exact) for her amazing performance in Pondicherry. And get this – it’s been 11 years since she last won, back in 2011 for Duniyadari, where she won Best Supporting Actress!
Nikita: A Role That Hit Home
In Pondicherry, Sai Tamhankar plays Nikita, a single mom, and she absolutely nails it. People are raving about how real and relatable she is in the role. It’s all about simplicity, raw emotion, and some seriously cool multilingual dialogue.
Overjoyed, Sai shared, “This award feels like a special hug from my Maharashtra.”

“We were all in it together, doing our own hair, makeup, and costumes. It made us so independent!” she explained.
Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, the film is a total vibe, perfectly capturing the spirit of Pondicherry while diving into some pretty complex relationships.
