Get ready for a new espionage thriller, hitting JioHotstar on August 8th!
From ‘Ranneeti’ to a Whole New Game
Sunjoy Waddhwa, the name behind some of India’s most loved TV shows and web series through his company Sphereorigins, is back with something that’s sure to grab your attention: ‘Salakaar’. This isn’t your typical spy flick. Directed by Faruk Kabir, it stars a stellar cast including Naveen Kasturia, Surya Sharma, Mouni Roy, Mukesh Rishi, and Purnendu Bhattacharya.
“After ‘Ranneeti’, we were itching to dive deeper into the world of espionage. When the network pitched us this idea, we immediately knew it had potential,” Waddhwa explains.
More Than Just Secrets and Gadgets
What started as a thrilling concept quickly transformed into a story packed with real emotion. Waddhwa gives credit to director Faruk Kabir for really shaping the narrative.
“It’s not just about the twists and turns,” he says. “Faruk and the writers made sure the story connects with you on a deeper level. That’s what makes it special.”
Two Timelines, Double the Impact
What really hooked Waddhwa was the way the story unfolds across two different timelines. “It gives you that suspense you crave, but also some serious emotional weight. We didn’t want to just rehash the same old spy drama – we wanted something with a heart.”
Real People, Real Stakes
Waddhwa is quick to point out the difference between the over-the-top spy movies we’re used to and the grounded reality of ‘Salakaar’.
“You know, a Bond film is all about the style and the action, but it can be a little light on the emotions. In ‘Salakaar’, we show spies as people just like us – dealing with loneliness, facing danger, and making tough sacrifices.”
The Hidden Cost of Being a Spy
“Spies live lives far from their families, often hiding behind fake identities. They’re dealing with being alone, navigating different cultures, and handling immense emotional pressure – all while putting their lives on the line,” he adds.
‘Salakaar’ wants to shine a light on these untold struggles. “It’s not just about the missions; it’s about the people carrying them out.”
Coming Soon to JioHotstar
Mark your calendars! ‘Salakaar’ premieres on August 8th on JioHotstar. With its blend of thrills, emotion, and a touch of realism, this series promises a fresh and exciting take on the spy genre. Get ready to be hooked!
