Sam Heughan’s Embassy Thriller Role Post-Outlander

After ten years as Jamie Fraser in Outlander, Sam Heughan starts a new chapter that is very exciting. The Scottish actor stars in the six-part thriller series Embassy with Anna Kendrick and J.K. Simmons. This is his first big TV role since Outlander.

Embassy is about Layla, an American diplomat played by Kendrick, who is trapped in a terrifying mercenary siege at the U.S. embassy in London. She has to choose between saving Ambassador Simmons or getting a valuable asset, so she turns to her ex-fiancé, a British soldier played by Heughan who doesn’t want to help, for help. AGC Television, Ascendant Fox, and Turbine Studios are all involved in the production. Filming will begin in February 2026, and John Strickland (Line of Duty) will direct four episodes and Christian Alvart will direct two.

No U.S. platform has been confirmed yet, but AGC is in charge of global distribution. The last season of Outlander starts on Starz on March 6. Executive producers include creator Rom Lotan, Strickland, and teams from all studios, which is making people excited for Heughan’s shift to a modern thriller.
