Scott Patterson, who is best known for his role on Gilmore Girls, has confirmed that he is leaving the hit CW drama Sullivan’s Crossing after three seasons because of creative differences that could not be worked out. The actor told his side of the story on social media, saying he liked his character Sully and explaining why it was so hard to make the decision.
On March 5, 2026, Patterson wrote on Facebook and Instagram, “The creative differences were becoming untenable, and I sadly realized that the show was not something I could agree to continue.” He talked a lot about how much he loved playing Harry “Sully” Sullivan, the owner of the campground that is the main character in the series based on Robyn Carr’s books. Roma Roth, the show’s creator, said that Sully’s move to Ireland with his girlfriend Helen at the end of Season 3 sets up his absence in Season 4, but he could come back later.
The CW will air the first episode of Season 4 on April 20, 2026. It will pick up right after Sully leaves without Patterson. Fans were shocked and unhappy online, praising Patterson’s honesty and saying he was a big reason why they watched the show. The show brings him back together with Chad Michael Murray, who played Cal Jones on Gilmore Girls.
