Shayan Khan opens up talking about Money Bank Guarantee. Here’s excerpts from the interview
1. What does Money Back Guarantee, in your opinion, stand for? Money Back Guarantee highlights Pakistan’s ethnic diversity and teaches the message of unity. I’m hoping the desi community really absorbs the concept of unity and recognizes the power in numbers. We can respect our differences without neglecting our mutual goals.
2. What would you say best describes your experience as the producer of Money Back Guarantee, a film that may impact Pakistan’s film industry? I would describe my experience as genuinely humbling. The fact that I got to work with some of the best in the game while simultaneously spotlighting Pakistani talent globally, blows my mind to this day. Working and learning from all my exceptionally talented co-stars has been life-changing for me as an actor and a point of pride as a producer. I’m proud to be a part of Lollywood’s upward trajectory since the release of Maula Jatt and hope our effort leaves a lasting legacy for the Pakistani film industry.
3. Do you think Money Back Guarantee’s final product stayed true to the original idea? If not, how and what changed? What factors influenced those changes? Money Back Guarantee is as Faisal Qureshi meant for it to be, there were no changes needed. From day 1, Faisal and I were firm on our vision and knew exactly what kind of movies we wanted to make. I am pleased to say that we succeeded.
4. Does any scene from Money Back Guarantee surpass your expectations, and if so, why? The movie in its entirety surpassed all my expectations, which were already very high. My favorite scene has to be the one where I’m being chased by a dog; I got to jump around in a harness and swing off walls, which was a lot of fun!
5. Do you have a favorite dialogue from the film? If so, what does the dialogue mean to you? It has to be “Darogey toh maroge, maroge toh aage badhoge” which roughly translates to “if you give in to fear you will surely perish, but if you fight back you might just win”. Because of my own experiences, I am sure that this quote is accurate. I’ve never been the type of person to take the safe route or give up out of fear of failing; if I’m going down, I’m going down swinging!
