Surjasikha Das: “Real Friendships Don’t Vanish, They Just Get Quieter”.

The “Gutar Gu 3” actress gets real about the friendships that matter, navigating connections in the industry, and why sometimes, silence is golden.

Mumbai, August 2, 2025 – Surjasikha Das, whom you might know from “Gutar Gu Season 3” and the movie “Maa,” has some thoughts on friendship – and they’re not your typical, over-the-top, Friendship Day sentiments. Surjasikha Das believes the best friendships are the ones that don’t need constant chatter. With Friendship Day around the corner, she’s sharing her honest perspective on the kind of relationships that really last.

Cherishing the Quiet Ones

Surjasikha Das admits she’s not one for grand Friendship Day gestures.

“I don’t make a huge fuss about it,” she says, “but I really, really value the people who’ve been there for me, through thick and thin… and even through the quiet times.”

She goes on to explain how real friendships actually deepen over time.

“You know, as you get older, your friendships don’t just disappear. They evolve. They become quieter, you have fewer of them, but they mean so much more. You stop trying to chase after everyone and start focusing on protecting your own peace,” says Surjasikha Das.

Making Friends in a Cutthroat Industry

When it comes to friendships in the entertainment world, Surjasikha Das keeps it real.

“It’s tough, I won’t lie. It’s not impossible to find genuine friends, but it’s rare. This industry is super competitive. Everyone’s running their own race. There are cliques, and it can be hard to break through and find those real connections,” notes Surjasikha Das.

But she also believes you can’t force these things.

“If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen naturally. You can’t push it.”

Quality Time Means Ditching the Act

For Surjasikha, the best times with friends are the low-key ones at home.

“I love those quiet evenings with friends where you can just be yourself. No pressure to be ‘on,’ no pretending – just relaxing and being comfortable. Even the silence feels good,” shares Surjasikha Das.

Old Bonds That Still Mean the World

She still keeps in touch with a few close friends from her school and college days.

“We might not talk every single day, but I know they’re just a 3 AM phone call away. That’s what true friendship is, right? It doesn’t need constant attention to stay strong,” says Surjasikha Das.

She also thinks about how things have changed since those early friendships.

“Back then, we never thought twice about just meeting up. Now, everything feels a little more planned and formal.”

Her First Best Friend: Mom

And the most important friendship in her life? That’s easy: her mom, Niru.

“She set the standard for me. She’s my first and forever friend – totally unconditional, always honest, and always there for me,” concludes Surjasikha Das.
