Actor Tahir Raj Bhasin looks back at the turning point since his Bollywood debut with the classic Mardaani ten years ago. Under the direction of the late Pradeep Sarkar, the film stars Rani Mukerji with Tahir, setting the groundwork for the popular Mardaani series.
Speaking on this historic event, Tahir remarked, “As Mardaani celebrates 10 today, I look back with appreciation for the incredible experience of working on this game-changing film. The uncommon opportunity to premiere in a YRF film under the direction of the remarkable Pradeep Sarkar alongside Rani Mukerji makes me immensely grateful. I recall the moment I was selected to portray the anti-hero in Mardaani after several rounds of tryouts. I sobbed happily. The truth finally sank in when every one of us sat down for the first script reading.
Regarding the overwhelmingly positive reaction his film got, Tahir remarked, “All the love and admiration came as an overpowering experience when the film was released. For me especially, I recall Aamir Khan, sir’s tweet. ‘Who is this new guy? tweeted he asked. I gave his performance great marks. When I saw his tweet, I was really happy!
Tahir also noted collaborating on his debut film alongside Pradeep Sarkar. “Mardaani transformed more than simply a project. Working with Pradeep Sarkar was a privilege; he was a brilliant imaginative filmmaker whose guiding influence so greatly helped to create this lovely anti-hero with great edge and flair. Mardaani was unique because of Pradeep Sir’s approach in presenting that anti-hero. He is quite good at providing precise instructions and also creating room for an unplanned emotional outburst.” “Every minute on set was a teaching moment.”.
He kept sharing his encounter working with Rani Mukerji: “Working with her was equally inspirational. Her star has been the one I grew up seeing. From her, one may learn so much. There was a mesmerizing presence of Rani Mukerji. Unmatched in professionalism and dedication toward the position was her approach.
