Directed by Chandoo Mondeti, the film is inspired by the real-life story of 22 Indian fishermen held by Pakistani forces in 2018. ‘Thandel’ pays tribute to the late Sushma Swaraj’s tireless work. Producer Bunny Vasu expressed heartfelt thanks to Sushma’s daughter, Bansuri Swaraj, for allowing the film to feature her mother’s name and real footage from press conferences. Bunny Vasu wrote on social media, “Thank you @BansuriSwaraj garu for giving us the opportunity to showcase your mother’s remarkable work in bringing back the fishermen from Pakistani jails in 2017-18.”

Real-Life Events Form the Core of the Film

The film is based on the 2018 incident, where 22 Indian fishermen were detained by Pakistan. Sushma Swaraj, as India’s External Affairs Minister, worked tirelessly to bring them back. After her passing, her daughter Bansuri continued to push for their safe return. ‘Thandel’ brings this inspiring story to the screen, showcasing their struggles and the family’s unyielding commitment.

Impressive Cast and Crew

Alongside Chaitanya and Pallavi, ‘Thandel’ features Sundip R Ved as the antagonist. The film also boasts a stellar technical crew, including National Award-winning composer Devi Sri Prasad, cinematographer Shamdat, editor Naveen Nooli, and art director Srinagendra Tangala.
