The Australian premiere of the Bengali film, starring Tillotama Shome, takes place at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne.
Acclaimed Debut at Berlin
Having made its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival 2025, Baksho Bondi – Shadowbox will open the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM). Bengali drama Baksho Bondi – Shadowbox features Tillotama Shome and is co-produced by Jim Sarbh and Shome herself.
The movie, presented at Berlin’s Perspektive Deutsches Kino section, will screen at its Australian premiere on August 14, as the IFFM 2025 Opening Night Film.
A Tale of Strength and Silence
A working-class woman living in a suburb of Kolkata, Maya, is the subject of this film directed by first-time directors Tanushree Das and Saumyananda Sahi. It tells the story of quiet strength, resilience, and small acts of courage in everyday life. Central to this narrative is the powerful performance by Tillotama Shome.
