TOP GUN MAVERICK – When your up there, you don’t have time to think…you just do…” That is what Maverick does when he is up flying those F-18’s. What our military do for our nation is no joke. Fighting for our sovereignty and protecting us is important. More than 30 years later does a sequel gets made for “TOP GUN”, and the wait was sure worth it with “TOP GUN MAVERICK”.
Tom Cruise reprises the role of Captain Peter Mitchell, and he hasn’t moved up the ranks, but still has that childish rebellious nature with that charming smile that caries you forward in his present state. Before he can be eliminated by flying a Mach 10, and from his Navy duties, he is asked to teach a new recruit of specialized cadets at TOP GUN. It is a special 3 week course that has to be executed for a special U.S mission.
He finds out his friends son named “Rooster” is in the training group. There is resentment , and regret between them, since he could not save his father’s life in the first one, played by Anthony Edwards.
The film has that emotional saga that binds the film well. The Arial visuals, and the flight sequences are top notch as expected, and Jennifer Connelly as Penny, Ed Harris, and John Hamm do lend their support to the film as well. The climax is a thrill ride, and very entertaining. The film is a must watch especially in IMAX.
