VEERE DI WEDDING – You have heard the term…”A Band Of Brothers…”, well “VEERE DI WEDDING” is movie that describes – “A Band Of Sisters”, that comprised of a stellar cast of four dynamic girls, featuring Kareena Kapoor, Sonam Kapoor Ahuja, Swara Bhaskar & Shika Talsania.
They are four girls who grew up together and are best friends that form the bond of being their for each other through their ups and downs in life. Particularly when all the characters are trying to find the right ideal relationship for themselves. “VEERE DI WEDDING” is an amalgamation of several films mixed from Bollywood & Hollywood. It reminds you and makes you feel that it is a mix of “Sex & The City” meets “Zindagi Na Milegi Do Baara”, mixed with “Monsoon Wedding”, that mixes up with “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”. Add a little raunchiness and booze, and you get this new film by Shashanka Ghosh, who made Sonam’s earlier film called, “Khoobsoorat” a few years back.
Despite the Adult content and language, a lot of young Urban Desi girls between the ages of 20 and 30 will identify with this lifestyle and film. It maybe shocking to the older generation to see this film, but it is in essence a film of friends being their for each other. Even though the film revolves around Kareena Kapoor as Kalindri, who has reservations about herself getting married, and fears the concept of commitment primarily. But to me I felt actress Swara Bhaskar stole the show. She is fresh and vibrant. Her spunk and attitude is the highlight of the film. Despite all that i did feel the “F” was used to often and unnecessarily. It felt it appeared a bit too contrived at times, and a bit too gimmicky. This was one blemish of the film that bothered me.Use it when needed. But overall “VEERE DI WEDDING” will keep you entertained and gets a 3 star recommendation. Courtesy AWESOME TV & BEING FILMY.
