Disney’s highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, has made over $1 billion worldwide, making it the 59th movie to do so and the third of 2025 to do so. After two weekends, the animated hit made $915.8 million, and with strong international sales, it crossed the billion-dollar mark, including presales.
The movie made $220.5 million in the US and $695.3 million around the world. In China, it made $430.4 million, making it the second-highest grosser there after Avengers: Endgame. It made a huge $556 million worldwide debut over Thanksgiving, with $156 million coming from the U.S. over five days. This made it the second-best Thanksgiving opener ever. Its quick rise was fueled by extra earnings, such as $49.2 million in IMAX and first place finishes in Mexico, Germany, and Vietnam.
Disney made more than $5 billion worldwide in 2016, thanks in part to Zootopia 2 and other movies like Moana 2. This is the first time a studio has done this in two years. Jared Bush and Byron Howard directed the sequel, which has voices from Ginnifer Goodwin, Jason Bateman, and Shakira. It got an A CinemaScore and a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. The success of this movie is due to the fact that there is a lot of demand for family animated movies.
