AD ASTRA – Brad Pitt plays an Astronaut who has been assigned to find his father, played by Tommy Lee Jones, in space, in a classified Government operation. His father may have created something detrimental, that is now detrimental to our solar system.

“AD ASTRA” is a science-fiction film, with a great setting that takes place in the near future. There are some great imaginative scenes and visuals of how life is developed on the Moon, and Mars, to even Neptune. However the film reminds you of films like “Contact”. and, “Interstellar”, which deals with the search of their loved ones.

The hidden message throughout the film is when we focus more on our own missions and work, we neglect what is around us, which is …our loved ones. Brad Pitt plays his character straight. I wish there was more that the director could have extracted out of him.

The film is preachy towards the end. He has to go all the way to planet Neptune to rescue his father, who is reluctant to come back. The film is an average affair and gets only a 2 and a half star recommendation. Courtesy  Awesome TV & Being Filmy.
