Batti Gul Meter Chalu Song Gold Tamba: Shahid Kapoor Steals Our Hearts As He Wooes Shraddha Kapoor

The first song from Batti Gul Meter Chalu is out and it’s as vibrant and sprightly as it could get. Titled Gold Tamba, the peppy number is high on quirky lyrics and is a heartwarming celebration of colors, set against the backdrop of a fun-filled fair.

Film’s leading pair Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor look absolutely amazing grooving to the foot-tapping tunes of the vivacious track. Come to think of it, Gold Tamba reminds us of Shahid’s energetic numbers Gandi Baat (from R… Rajkumar) and Tu Mere Agal Bagal Hai (from Phata Poster Nikla Hero). The actor is seen wooing his leading lady in Gold Tamba, promising to a better choice for her than other guys. He goes on to argue that if gold is available for her, why she would opt for copper (Tamba). Check out the song loaded with spunk and vigor.

Nakash Aziz has sung the number, composed by Anu Malik. Siddharth and Garima have penned the lyrics of Gold Tamba.

Directed by Shree Narayan Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Nishant Pitti and Krishan Kumar, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is set in a small town of Uttarakhand and brings into limelight the serious issue of electricity theft and load-shedding in rural India. Shahid feels lucky that he got a chance to be a part of the drama that talks about such a relevant issue.  An elated Kapoor was quoted as saying in a recent interview, “Making such films and bringing them to a wider audience is of utmost importance. It is then not just entertainment but also a responsibility on a more human level. That’s why I feel very proud that I got this opportunity.”

Given the subject the film deals with, isn’t the actor worried that the project might get categorized as non-mainstream? Shahid opined, “I don’t think this film isn’t a mainstream film. I think it’s an extremely mainstream film. I think issues don’t make a film non-mainstream. It’s the take on the issue, which makes a film non-mainstream. If this film had some serious title, then this film’s tonality would have been different and its reach would have been slightly limited.”

Also starring Divyendu Sharma and Yami Gautam in lead roles, Batti Gul Meter Chalu is scheduled to release on 21 September this year.
