“HALF GIRLFRIEND”, should be called…”NO GIRLFRIEND”. This is the most pretentious film and poorly directed film I have seen from Director Mohit Suri. Despite some good songs – the film is very contrived with many subplots thrown in.
Both Arjun Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor are miscast, and they do not compliment each other well. Yet again the film deals with the theme of a girl who is not sure what she wants in a relationship, but this time with an Indian boy that is from Bihar, who prefers to speak in Bhaiya language rather than in English.
It looks like a one sided love that takes Madhav Jha, played by Arjun Kapoor all the way from Patna to Manhattan just to get his one true love back. On the other side, he is trying to get a grant from Bill Gates, and the U.N for money to help his mom run a school for children, but with girls as well. He wants to establish toilet facilities as well in order for girls to join the school in his rural hometown. If this a novel by Chetan Bhagat, then I am highly disturbed that this novel becomes a film like this. It is a crass film. Also can someone tell me does Riya Somani played by Shraddha Kapoor have cancer?? And how did she get cured?? Also why does she gets divorced and waits for so many years for her true love to find her? A crass film indeed. The film gets a 1 star recommendation. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
