KHAALI PEELI – Slowly Bollywood movies are coming to local theaters across America during this Pandemic year, Actors, Ishan Khattar & Ananya Pandey bring you a simple Masala entertainer, that is basically a story about love on the run. It is a formula film called – “KHAALI PEELI” – for your viewing pleasure. Yes the Mumbai-centric tapori film is yet again old wine packaged in a new bottle. There is nothing new, but fresh faces played by Ishaan & Ananya, that show comfort and confidence in portraying these “Slumdog” type of characters in their roles.

The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat of “Pataal Lok” fame, and he is good as the Pimp who sells girls of the “selling age”,  to his seedy clients. It is a love – lost and found story between a young like orphan boy nick-named, “Blackie”, played by Ishan Khattar. He is “Black Marketer”, and sacrifices his young love by running away from her far away, so that she does not get murdered by these street goons.

10 years later their paths unite. He is a Taxi driver now, and she needs his help, with the dowry money that she has stolen, and runs away from her forced marriage. She was being sold off. Little does she know that later, it  is “Blackie” the “Taxiwallah” that is her long lost love. They finally unite.

This is a weak story indeed, yet it is slickly made with foot tapping songs. But as usual it becomes an average and predictable affair. The film gets only 2 and half stars. Courtesy Awesome TV & Being Filmy!
