LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA – Finally this film gets an International Release…”LIPSTICK UNDER MY BURKHA” is a film that deals with sexual liberation for women in India.

Set in Bhopal, the film takes on 4 ladies, and their stories that get integrated with each other in their neigbhorhood called, “Hawai Manzil”. The film is racy and certainly tries to bend the envelope.

It features a great cast with stars like, Kon Kona Sen & Ratna Pathak. The “Burkha” is like a metaphor that explores the theme of either being repressed, or being protected by the veil, so that one can finally decide how to be free and liberate their desires and freedom for themselves.

The film story is new and refreshingly fun and bold, but I felt the film could have even gone further with all the characters and their dilemmas. More could have been explored. ut at the same time the film is short and sweet. The film gets a 2 and a half stars recommendation. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
