MERI PYAARI BINDU – Sometimes did you ever wonder what ever happened to that pretty girl that you grew up with, who was was your next door neighbor? Your first crush? Your buddy and your one true love? – Then “MERI PYAARI BINDU” is the film for you. It is a light film that can be pretentious at times, yet interesting in parts. It deals with a girl’ named Bindu, played by Parineeti Chopra who is bubbly and cute. She wishes to pursue her singing career, and is care free. Yet her character portrays this indecisiveness on being with the boy she grew up with. She is not sure in what she wants to do with him. These type of relationships can tick many men off, and some of you can relate to it.
Despite Parineeti having the author back role, and looking stunning in this film, It is actually Ayushman Khuranna that steals the show by portraying his role as the writer, and explains the narrative of the film. He brings a nice subtle, mature and not over the top performance which makes this film worth sitting through.
The setting in Calcutta, and the 80’s Bollywood music theme does bring nostalgia, but at times seems forced into the story-line, as a result it makes it dull at times. Overall the film gets a 2 and a half stars. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
