PADMAN – India may be known to the world for its billion people population, but its should be known for the billion brilliant minds that are bringing out innovative ideas to make their country go forward and strong. The message from Director R. Balki, has been nicely handled in bringing this unusual topic in “PAD MAN”.

Produced by Twinkle Khanna and her hubby, Akshay Kumar, the film brings the true story to life of one man’s mission to bring sanitary pads to woman in many rural parts of India. They should not be shamed or shunned by it either. India has always appeared in these subjects as regressive , and at the same time progressive in urban cities. But it is high time to integrate such things that are needed to move society forward, and have woman not to be embarrassed of that time of the season.

Cleanliness is important as well. I have even seen close friends and relatives here in America who are women, that do need their space during those few days, Some of the woman wish to be alone because of the stigma and the moodiness that they feel during that time. We as men should respect and understand what they go through during that time.

At first I thought Akshay Kumar would be odd playing the real life simple character who is South Indian, but his charm and simpleton character appears very endearing on the screen towards his wife and his family.

Both actresses Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor have given in their roles a believable, sensible, and mature performance. Some of you may feel stand offish about the subject matter of this film, but it is very sweet and lighthearted film that deserves to be seen in the theater. I highly recommend this film, and for the whole team and to the real – “PAD MAN” – Mr. Arunchal Murganantham – the film deserves a 4 star recommendation!! – Go see it!!  Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
