READY PLAYER ONE – I must say Director Steven Spielberg is always one step ahead in whatever genre or topic he takes on. Especially in the science-fiction department he excels in it. “READY PLAYER ONE” is simply mind blowing. It is “Avatar” meets “Minority Report” meets “A.I.” and goes one step further into a plot that revolves a virtual video game.
Set in Ohio in the year 2045, a young boy is obsessed in finding out why his iconic favorite game creator has passed away, and what mystery lies in the contest that can give the meaningful existence to his life and to the creator. The film is a visual, and animated treat that will open more doors in making films like this one.
The film is crafty and creative to watch, especially “The Shining” sequence remake in the film is a plus point to watch it for. The film goes onto many levels and metaphors that explains how our society is going in a direction in the future, where we as humans will be so absorbed by the internet, where a time will come where one will not be able to distinguish what is reality, and what is virtual anymore. The film brilliantly also shows leading characters hiding behind these Facebook like programs and games, because they fear rejection from the real world.
