SADAK 2 – I have often said this in the past, if there should be a sequel made for any kind of movie, it should be better than the last one, and allow the audience to go further with the characters, and its narrative.

Mahesh Bhatt’s who claims to have been in retirement mode has come out to make “SADAK 2”, which stars Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, & Makrand Deshpande. Makrand plays the role of the flamboyant villainous gothic like Sadhu.

The film tries to recreate a rehash of “Maharani”, played by the late Sadashiv Amrapurkar, with Makrand as the new menacing character. Alia Bhatt plays the role of Aaraya, who wants to expose the dangerous Sadhu’s dark dealings with extortion, and other criminal activities. She is on the run, and needs to get to Kailash to immerse her mother’s ashes.

Along the way she picks up her musical boyfriend from jail, played by Aditya Roy Kapoor. He has been wrongly accused in self defense, but comes out after serving a few months time in the lock up. They need a Taxi – An “Uber Driver”, for a long journey. They get the one and only…Ravi Verma, played by Sanjay Dutt, who is suicidal, after the loss of his love. He later gets persuaded to do the job, after getting voices from his lady love in heaven, played by Pooja Bhatt. She says to protect them and do the right thing. The rest is all predictable through this long and winding road to nonsense.

After 29 years this sequel is not needed, and Bhatt should just call it quits. Dutt looks haggard and weak. I hope he is fine. The songs are no match to Nadeem-Shravan’s work from the first one. Over all the film is ridiculous and gets a 1 and a half stars recommendation. Now streaming on Disney Hotstar. Courtesy Awesome TV & Being Filmy!
