STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2 – “…Time Tera…Saal Mera…” – (Time is yours, the year will be mine). – Young College Student Rohan of Pishori College, played by Tiger Shroff mentions that, and challenges his foe from St. Teresa’s – An upper high class college to winning in a Sports competition, where only one can win from various colleges in India, the trophy in “STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2”.

The film is also a love triangle that introduces Tara Sutaria & Ananya Pandey. Both have indeed screen presence, but unlike the first one, that was directed by Karan Johar, this one lacks the technical visuals, and has a weak script. Director Punit Malhotra makes this youthful film more of an action film with sports thrown in. Its like “Baaghi” meets “Dangal”, and thrown in is a love triangle that could have been more developed, which I as an audience would have loved to see, as more of the focus in this film’s content.

Despite all the blemishes, Tiger Shroff is improving and is wonderful in his dance moves. He does perform his role with humility and is not over the top, but needs to be more clear and vocal in his dialog delivery.

But the main trump card of this film is Chunky Pandey’s daughter – Ananya Pandey. Her character of the rich, bratty girl, who seems to be an outcast from her family, with the in your face attitude, is refreshing to see. She has her own unique style, and has potential to being a big star. I wish she had more screen footage. The songs are good and catchy, but the film instead ends up as an average affair. The film gets a 2 and half stars. Courtesy Awesome TV & BEING FILMY.
