BALA – You could say Actor- Ayushmann Khurana knows the Middle-Class sentiments in India, and he excels in such formulas in his past few Bollywood films recently. “BALA”, his new film Directed by Amar Kaushik,is another feather in his cap that will be a success at the box-office.

The film like “Ujda Chaman”, that released last week, which deals with a person that is balding, or going through body shaming is very similar, but the treatment is very different. Ayushmann’s character is more aggressive and frustrated in his portrayal of searching for his acceptance and love in his personal life. Plus the film takes a realistic approach towards the end with no fairy-tale solution, but gives you a sense of respect. And that respect is of one respecting his or her own looks, no matter if he or she is not of what our society dictates on what beauty should look like.

The film is light and at times a bit preachy, but when you have Khuranna on a roll, and Yami Gautam’s perfect comedy timing, of a vain girl, who is superficial but falls in love with him, will make you smile. To have Bhumi Padnekar in the supporting roll is a bonus. By then you know you will not be disappointed. The film gets a 3 star recommendation. .Courtesy Awesome TV & Being Filmy.
