BHOOT – THE HAUNTED SHIP – PART ONE– The reviews are indeed out, and they are not promising. Even I felt the same way about it. The fault lies mainly with the director Bhanu Pratap Singh, and the narrative of this Bollywood horror flick, called :BHOOT-THE HAUNTED SHIP-PART ONE”.

Vicky Kaushal who leads this film as a custom navy officer, goes through his remorse and regret with loosing his child and wife in a water rafting trip accident, It haunts him, and he performs his role with the right emotions.. He hears their voices at home, and hallucinates. At the same time he has things to tackle down at work, by solving a human trafficking case at the docks, and then one day in 2011, a huge cargo boat washes upon the shore of Juhu, Mumbai, where it is all abandoned and rusted. How it got there is a mystery, and suddenly a wandering couple has been found murdered in that boat. He goes in to investigate, and creepy things come out of the walls, which will scare you a bit. He goes on the boat with his psychiatrist -Pandit, played by Ashutosh Rana towards the end. Yup..Ashutosh plays a two in one combo character which is so cliched in this genre, and it is up to them to get to the bottom of the truth of what the tragic atrocities that took place in that ship. Oh yeah and to kill off the evil spirit that lies within.

There are 2 stories and plots, but do not really connect. One gets solved, but Kaushal’s personal battle looks like an open case that needs closure. Maybe that is why they call this chapter part one? After seeing this I do not think a part 2 will happen. They should have made it perhaps into a web series instead. Karan Johar as a producer needs to be more aware and be involved in his projects, that are now showing lack of substance these days. The film gets only 1 and a half stars.
