DUNE – Our society past, present, and in the future will always look for a good leader, or messiah, that will lead us to richness peace, and prosperity.

Based on the the science fiction series by Frank Herbert, Director – Denis Villenueve, of “Arrival”. and “Blade runner 2049”  – fame, has done a brilliant job in adapting this new version for the Big-Screen. Now also streaming on HBO MAX, the film has been divided into 2 parts. This is only the first part. The film is like “Shakespeare” – style political dram,a that is set in the year 10191 on a desolate dry planet called Arrakis. The dry planet is rich in the spice melange that is rich in nutrients for a long life, and strength.

But there are many families and planets that want to control this power for themselves. There are Freman who are like nomads that inhabit the planet and live under the sand dune caverns. They believe this land and wealth belongs to them. The “House of Atreides” – A Royal Family form planet Caladan have been requested by the universal organization to see through the spice production to go smoothly in Arrakis. The House of Harkonnen’s are their adversary.

But when the father of Atriedes, played by Oscar Isaac – has been murdered, it is upto his young son Paul to take over this huge responsibility. Those who have read the book, as I have will appreciate this film more. Yes there is so much to be more added to this film. so I am hoping more things will develop in the sequel. The visuals, the background score and effects are amazing.

It has a great big cast too. It has Timothy Chalamet in the lead, Oscar Isaac, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Jason Momoa, David Bautista, and Javier Bardem.

The downside is…too many characters with less footage, and less character development, but at the same time I say let it be, because there is so much to fit in this magnum opus for the audience to digest.  Take a look….
