KESARI – Based on “The Battle Of Saragarhi” – “KESARI” tells the 1897 true story of 21 Sikhs that were holding the Fort at Saragarhi, against 10,000 Afghani invaders that wanted invade and expand their presence into Hindustan during British rule.

The Sikhs were soldiers under the British Empire. But as soldiers within they felt always as if they were enslaved. They wanted freedom. Akshay Kumar as Hawaldar Ishar Singh, gives a restrained performance, and portrays this role where he can show us his action, that he was once famous for.

The film has been made on a lavish scale, and the film is intense, heavy and sad towards the end. The film will indeed make the Indian Sikh community proud by showing their strong values for helping each other during adverse times on a humanitarian level. Director – Anurag Singh has done his research well on the 21 soldiers, but beware the violence in the film can become extreme to watch. The film gets a 3 star recommendation.
