Somy Ali, the former Bollywood star and humanitarian behind the esteemed NGO No More Tears, is embarking on a well-deserved 14-day sabbatical to celebrate her birthday on March 25. After dedicating 17 tireless years to aiding those impacted by human trafficking, domestic violence, and LGBTQ discrimination, Somy is setting an example by prioritizing self-care.

In a heartfelt statement, Somy expressed her anticipation for the break starting March 20, highlighting the importance of rest even amidst the ongoing fight against LGBTQ discrimination. She plans to share her travel experiences with her followers on Instagram, emphasizing the necessity of such breaks for long-term sustainability in social work.

Somy reassured that her absence would not affect No More Tears’ operations, as a team of five skilled professionals is prepared to manage the NGO’s responsibilities. They are well-equipped with the necessary resources to handle any situation, ensuring Somy can enjoy her vacation with peace of mind.

No More Tears’ safe house is currently sheltering nine girls, including individuals from the LGBTQ community and victims of domestic violence and labour trafficking. Somy shared poignant stories of their resilience and the NGO’s efforts to facilitate their recovery and repatriation. Despite the challenges, the positive transformations of these survivors fuel her commitment.

Over 42,932 individuals have found refuge and support through No More Tears, thanks to the collective efforts of its board members, fundraisers, and global supporters. Somy’s gratitude extends to the survivors who, inspired by their own journeys, have gone on to establish their charitable organizations.

Somy’s compassion knows no borders, as she remains deeply invested in the welfare of individuals affected by conflicts worldwide. She maintains her dedication to volunteering during her vacation and expresses hope for global peace. The generosity of an anonymous benefactor, providing plane tickets for victims, underscores the vital role of community support in the NGO’s mission.

As Somy prepares for her hiatus, she leaves us with a powerful reminder of the strength found in unity and the impact of collective action in the face of adversity. Her unwavering commitment to every survivor’s dignity and her call for continued support reflects the enduring spirit of No More Tears.
